Giovanni Fabbian 41′
Davide Zappacosta 47′ (og)
Simone Lontani 58′
Half-time 0–1 · Venue: New Balance Arena · Referee: Valerio Crezzini
Giovanni Fabbian opened the scoring four minutes before the break and later provided the assist for the third, as Parma claimed a first Serie A win in five matches on Monday 2 November. Davide Zappacosta’s own goal two minutes after the restart had already doubled their advantage in the matchday 10 meeting in Bergamo.
The scoreline barely reflected the flow of play. Atalanta had 70% of the ball, completed 588 passes to Parma’s 228 and took 20 shots to 6. Their expected goals total reached 3.02, against 0.52 for the visitors. Maurizio Sarri’s side still failed to score.
Fabbian and Sierro combine before the break
Parma struck in the 41st minute. Vincent Sierro supplied the pass and Fabbian finished to send Gilardino’s team in ahead at half-time. Sierro, rated 7.7, created 3 chances in his 89 minutes.
The second half had barely started when Zappacosta turned the ball into his own net in the 47th minute. Eleven minutes later, Fabbian turned provider for Simone Lontani, who made it three. Both had left the pitch by the closing stages: Lontani after 67 minutes and Fabbian after 74, with a rating of 8.28 for his goal and assist.
Daffara makes six saves to keep Atalanta out
Atalanta put 6 shots on target, and Giovanni Daffara stopped every one of them. Rated 8.57, the highest on the pitch, the Parma goalkeeper never needed a shot of his own to stand out. At the other end, Carnesecchi made just 1 save.
Nikola Krstović, fourth in the Serie A scoring charts with 6 goals, drew a blank. Atalanta also had 6 shots blocked and were caught offside 4 times. Parma were not caught offside once.
The result reversed the last meeting between the clubs. Atalanta won 4-0 at home in January. This was Parma’s first win against them since a 3-2 victory in Bergamo in May 2025.
Atalanta winless in five, Parma 15th
Sarri’s side have now gone five games without a win in all competitions. Before this defeat they drew 2-2 with Fiorentina and 4-4 with Frosinone, having lost to Ajax and AC Milan. Their last victory came against Pafos.
Atalanta are 13th on 11 points after 10 games, with a goal difference of -4. Parma are 15th on 8 points, three behind them. The win ended a run of four league games without a victory, a spell that included a goalless draw with Udinese and defeats to Lazio, Torino and Inter. Their previous success came against Genoa, 2-1.
Atalanta return to European action first, hosting Kairat Almaty in the Conference League on Thursday 5 November. Parma are back at home two days later, when Bologna visit on Saturday 7 November.
