The summer transfer window is already heating up in Serie A, and one of the biggest names linked with a move to Turin is Barcelona’s veteran marksman, Robert Lewandowski.
However, former Juventus icon and Champions League winner Fabrizio Ravanelli has voiced strong opposition to the potential move, labeling it a “step backward” for the club’s long-term project.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the “White Feather” explained that while Lewandowski’s pedigree is unquestionable, his age and the current direction of the Bianconeri make him the wrong fit for Thiago Motta’s evolving side.
Robert Lewandowski to Juventus: A “Wrong Message” for Fans?
As Lewandowski enters the twilight of his career—set to turn 38 in August 2026—speculation has grown regarding a “Bosman” move to Italy.
Despite the lure of bringing a world-class finisher to the Allianz Stadium, Ravanelli believes the optics would be detrimental.
“It would send the wrong signal to the fans and the club’s plans,” Ravanelli stated. “Not because Lewandowski isn’t up to the task—we are talking about a champion—but Juventus need players with a bright future and ‘Juve DNA.’ I think the club should look for other profiles.”
For a club currently focused on lowering the average age of the squad and managing a sustainable wage bill, committing a massive salary to a player nearing 40 contradicts the youth-centric philosophy seen with the rise of Kenan Yildiz and the pursuit of Jonathan David.
Better Alternatives: Gabriel Jesus and Victor Osimhen
Rather than looking toward the past, Ravanelli urged the Juventus scouting department to identify “ready-made” players who still have their best years ahead of them.
The former striker was quick to name two Premier League and Serie A stars as superior alternatives to the Polish international.
“I would do anything to sign Victor Osimhen,” Ravanelli admitted, acknowledging the difficulty of the Nigerian’s release clause.
He also highlighted Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus as a primary target. “Gabriel Jesus would be worthy of a place at Juventus. He is a striker who can win something important in the future, unlike a short-term fix.”

The Dusan Vlahovic Factor and Juventus’ Striker Crisis
The debate over Lewandowski comes at a time of uncertainty for Dusan Vlahovic.
With the Serbian’s contract negotiations ongoing and his form fluctuating, Juventus are desperate for a clinical finisher.
Ravanelli noted that even if Vlahovic stays, the team lacks a “ruthless” secondary option.
While Kenan Yildiz has impressed as the club’s top scorer this season, the lack of a traditional No. 9 has cost Juventus points in the Scudetto race.
According to Ravanelli, relying on a 37-year-old Lewandowski to solve these systemic issues would be a gamble that the “Old Lady” cannot afford to take.
Conclusion: A New Era in Turin
As Juventus prepares for the 2026-27 season, the message from club legends is clear: look forward, not back. Links to Marcus Rashford have also been reported recently.
While Robert Lewandowski remains one of the most decorated strikers in modern football, the consensus in Turin is shifting toward a more dynamic, youthful attack.
Whether Giuntoli and the Juventus board heed Ravanelli’s warning remains to be seen, but the pursuit of Gabriel Jesus suggests the club may already be looking beyond the Barcelona star.
