Atalanta can extend their undefeated streak to six on October 22nd, as Ivan Juric’s side welcome Slavia Prague in the Champions League and Gianluca Scamacca could return to the starting lineup.
Atalanta Team News
La Dea continue their Champions League run with a visit from Slavia Prague and can maintain a run that has seen Atalanta avoid defeat on five consecutive occasions.
In fact, Atalanta’s only defeat of the season came during MD1 of the Champions League, suffering a 4-0 defeat to the current European champions, PSG.
The Bergamo-based side are unbeaten in Serie A this season, but have drawn five of their seven league matches so far and sit eighth in the table with 11-points.
Most recently, Atalanta were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Lazio at the Gewiss Stadium, managing to avoid any fresh injury concerns for their upcoming clash in Europe.
However, Raoul Bellanova, Odilon Kossounou and Mitchel Bakker are expected to miss out on October 22nd as the trio continue their recovery from injury.
Juric has managed to implement his style on the Atalanta side fairly swiftly, as the former Southampton boss demands his players to press high and do so with maximum intensity.
Atalanta have lined up in a 3-4-3 formation during the 2025/26 season so far, which converts to a 5-4-1 when La Dea are without the ball and in defensive transition.
One slight tweak that Juric has made on a few occasions has been the format of the forward line, as Atalanta have not found a regular player to lead the line.
Nikola Krstovic was signed during the summer window but has failed to find his feet in Bergamo and Atalanta have now been linked with Ayase Ueda after his strong start to the season with Feyenoord.
This has pushed Ivan Juric into shifting between a front three that is made up of two strikers and a number 10, or a lone striker with two wingers either side.
Deciding over a preferred set-up could be made slightly easier after Gianluca Scamacca returned to the matchday squad against Lazio, recovering from a knee injury.
Will Gianluca Scamacca Start Against Slavia Prague?
The Italian international has missed both of Atalanta’s Champions League matches so far and has not picked up any minutes for La Dea since August 30th.
Scamacca came into the season with a minor knee injury, which eventually required major attention after dropping out of Italy’s squad during the international break in early September.
The former West Ham star will be looking to build some momentum after Italy secured a place in the World Cup qualification play-offs and could return to the pitch against Slavia Prague.
Injuries have plagued Scamacca’s spell in Bergamo tremendously, as the Italian made just one league appearance for Atalanta last season – missing 37 Serie A matches with an ACL tear and hamstring issue.
His recent injury issues came after a superb debut season with Atalanta, as Scamacca contributed to 27 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions in 2023/24 (19G + 8A).
Scamacca averaged 1.6 shots on target per 90 in Serie A during the 2023/24 season and proved himself to be a major threat for Atalanta, something Juric will be hoping to see for the remainder of this campaign.
