Possession, possession and even more possession. Juventus dominated the ball on Sunday against Cagliari. Juve also dominated the shot count as compared to their opponents, who just so happen to be on one of their best starts to a season in club history. And they dominated the sheer volume of passes attempted and then completed.

Juventus, however, didn’t dominate on the scoreboard.

In fact, it wasn’t even close to that kind of situation.

If not for Randal Kolo Muani’s equalizer with 10 minutes to go against Cagliari, Juventus will have started a huge nine-game stretch between the first international break of the 2026-27 season and the second with a wholeheartedly disappointing loss on Sunday. Juve did get a point, but the disappointment in the overall performance was there no matter the statistical dominance that Luciano Spalletti’s squad did have. It was certainly two points dropped rather than the alternative, and that now leaves Juve in a spot where they could have fully taken advantage of others around them in the early-season standings dropping points and potentially getting fairly close to the league leaders.

Instead, what happened against Cagliari saw many troublesome patterns continue.

And for that, no matter where you are in the season, certainly brought some cause for concern — again.
