Christian Pulisic has been dealt a fresh injury blow which will come as a major concern to AC Milan and the USMNT.

Pulisic missed the matchday 23 victory over Bologna due to bursitis. The condition is an inflammation affecting the fluid-filled sacs around joints.

It’s reported that the pain and discomfort Pulisic is experiencing is close to his hip. Although it can easily be managed, full recovery times can vary extensively.

Milan didn’t want to take any chances at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium on Tuesday. A decision of which didn’t come back to haunt them as the Rossoneri ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

With Max Allegri’s side moving back into second-spot in the table, the club’s medical staff will need to monitor ‘Captain America‘ closely. Even more so as Pulisic’s potential absence could scupper their Scudetto hopes.

How Many Injuries Has Christian Pulisic Suffered In 2025-26?

Having starred at the San Siro over the last two-and-a-half seasons, a new Christian Pulisic AC Milan contract is in the pipeline but his injury history is becoming a cause for concern.

Talks for his renewal will resume in the spring whereby both club and player will be hoping he is at full fitness for the season run-in. Head coach Max Allegri expressed Pulisic’s latest setback is minor.

As reassuring as Allegri’s views are, this is the third time Pulisic has been crocked this term. His first came on international duty against Australia in October.

The hamstring problem suffered against the Socceroos meant he missed four consecutive Serie A games. None of which ended in defeat for Milan.

Pulisic missed the Lazio match back in November owing to muscular problems. The 27-year-old soon recovered and was back in action nine days later against Torino where he scored a brace.

All in all, the Pennsylvania native has missed a total of 15 games since joining AC. Which isn’t vast in the grand scheme of things but it is becoming a slight concern. Something of which Pulisic doesn’t need going into the World Cup.

Christian Pulisic’s World Cup Chances

In the summer, Mauricio Pochettino defended Christian Pulisic’s Gold Cup absence. The USMNT head coach knows how vital it is to have Pulisic fit and available for this year’s FIFA World Cup extravaganza.

However, his non-attendance was not appreciated by everyone associated with the US soccer team. Landon Donovan blasted Pulisic which instigated a feud.

The US legend was not happy with the AC Milan star and Pulisic – alongside his own father – hit back at Donovan. The latter expressed his unhappiness at the fact Pulisic didn’t particpate after a grueling campaign at club level.

From Pochettino’s perspective, the idea was to give ‘Captain America‘ the summer off so he could be in the best possible shape for the upcoming World Cup.

It goes without saying that Pulisic will be the first name on the team sheet. He has skippered the side over 20 times and is on course to become the country’s all-time leading scorer.

With the above in mind, Pulisic only needs to keep himself physically fit with a refreshed mindest to be included in the roster. Therefore, he won’t want to push himself to the absolute limit going into the final months of the 2025-26 campaign.
