For the second time in as many months, Juventus and a goalkeeper from one of the top teams in the Premier League look set to agree to personal terms. But a lot like the first time around, that doesn\u2019t mean things are suddenly close to seeing the Bianconeri secure their new starting goalkeeper well ahead of the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Regardless, multiple reports out of Italy on Tuesday night say that Juventus are either close to finalizing a contract for Martinez or, like Sky Italia\u2019s Gianluca Di Marzio<\/a>, have agreed to personal terms on a deal and are getting \u201cincreasingly close\u201d to potentially signing the 33-year-old Argentine goalkeeper who is coming off winning the Europa League with Aston Villa last month. Tuttosport<\/a> also says that an agreement on a contract has been reached, while La Gazzetta dello Sport<\/a> says that Aston Villa is asking in the neighborhood of \u20ac15 million for Martinez this summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n According to Di Marzio, Martinez \u201cbelieves that Juve is the perfect choice to end an already trophy-laden career.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n With Liverpool\u2019s Alisson Becker now out of the picture after the Merseyside club wouldn\u2019t budge when it came to letting him leave this summer, Martinez has emerged as Juventus\u2019 top choice to fill the request of manager Luciano Spalletti for a new starting goalkeeper following a 2025-26 season in which Michele Di Gregorio and Mattia Perin struggled for much of the campaign. Martinez has been rumored to potentially be on the way out at Aston Villa both this summer window and last, with this year looking like it could very well be the time he heads out and the Champions League-bound Villains usher in a new era in goal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Martinez has been at Aston Villa since 2020 and has recorded over 200 appearances with the club.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n But, exactly like with Alisson, personal terms is only a step in the negotiation process. Juventus and Aston Villa have reportedly been in contact, but it\u2019s unsure where things stand in terms of negotiations between the two clubs. Di Marzio did say, interestingly, that \u201cIt remains to be seen whether Aston Villa will release him for free or whether an agreement on the fee will need to be reached.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
