For months now, we\u2019ve been wondering just how much Weston McKennie\u2019s form would be the tipping point in Juventus deciding to offer him a new contract just a few short months before his current deal expires. Week after week went by, with the waiting game of what would happen amidst rumors of other clubs circling and monitoring McKennie\u2019s situation becoming the norm more than anything.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Even with that, McKennie shrugged off any real talk that he could leave Juve come the summertime, instead saying that he hoped to stay in Turin and that his agent was the one who was taking care of everything.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
It looks like there\u2019s no more reason to wonder. Or for those clubs not named Juventus to be lurking in the distance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
According to multiple reports out of Italy on Tuesday, Juventus and McKennie\u2019s camp are close to finalizing a contract extension through 2030. It would give the American midfielder who has basically been in and out and then back into the Juventus squad for more than just a couple of years now the stability that he has so desired \u2014 and a much-deserved pay raise as he continues to be one of the Bianconeri\u2019s best performers under yet another manager in Igor Tudor and now Luciano Spalletti so far this season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
McKennie will reportedly see his salary go up to \u20ac4 million with potential bonuses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Juventus are expected to announce the new deal with the 27-year-old McKennie following this weekend\u2019s crucial matchup with fourth-place Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
When the deal is closed and everything is signed, it would end a period of a few months to close out 2025 and now into 2026 in which McKennie\u2019s contract situation has looked anything but a certainty. Would he stay and sign a new deal? Or would this season end up being his last with Juventus and be an unfortunate end to a tenure at the club that\u2019s been at since the summer of 2020 in which his form wouldn\u2019t be enough to convince the new-look front office to keep him around?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
But there\u2019s no denying he has played his way into Juve being much more proactive than they were just a couple of months ago when it came to contract talks. McKennie has easily been one of Juve\u2019s best performers under Spalletti, and his form since the Tuscan took over for Tudor in late-October has been big factor in so much praise being thrown his way. No matter if it\u2019s been with big goals or providing assists, McKennie has certainly pushed the issue when it comes to being deserving of a new deal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
And it\u2019s been that form that has led to things going from looking like the two sides aren\u2019t talking and things being stalled to where we are today and McKennie set to sign a new long-term deal. Quite the positive development there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
