He’ll be announced soon and will be the third acquisition for the Bianconeri in January after Alberto Costa from Guimaraes and Randal Kolo Muani from PSG.

He joins in a simple loan like the French striker. Per Calciomercato, the Old Lady will shell out €5M, wages included, to have him in for the second half of the season.

Veiga will be the first piece to try to replace Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal after Juventus missed out on a few targets in January, for instance, Fikayo Tomori, Ronald Araujo, and David Hancko. The last one is still expected to join in the summer.

The 21-year-old is a Sporting CP product but got his start in the pros on loan at Augsburg and then broke out at Basel. Chelsea signed him for €14M last summer. He has accumulated 18 appearances at Stamford Bridge, although mostly in the secondary competitions. He has featured seven times in the Premier League, starting once.

The Bianconeri remain in talks with Newcastle United and West Ham for Lloyd Kelly and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Our Take on Juventus and Veiga

It’s better than nothing and, it’ll be interesting to see where Thiago Motta will put him given his versatility. Still, it’ll be a very expensive spell if they don’t retain him. Plus, their recent performances made it quite clear that they need leadership, and adding youngsters who need time to adjust to their new surroundings won’t improve the situation much, as talented as they might be.

Follow us on Google News for more updates on Serie A and Italian football

Source link

Renato Veiga touched down in Turin on Sunday night and passed the medicals and put pen to paper to complete his Juventus switch on Monday.
