Jamie Vardy has sensationally made a journalist eat their words after making history in Serie A.<\/strong><\/p>\n Cremonese striker Vardy, 38, was named the top-flight\u2019s player of the month for November earlier this week, becoming the first English player to win the award since its inception in 2019.<\/p>\n In doing so, he fended off fierce competition from the likes of Mike Maignan, Lautaro Martinez and David Neres.<\/p>\n After joining on a free transfer during the summer, the veteran started slowly under Davide Nicole before spectacularly bursting into form.<\/p>\n He has scored four goals in 10 appearances for the newly-promoted side, moving them 10 points clear of 18th.<\/p>\n Vardy featured in three league games last month and scored once against Juventus, earning himself the gong.<\/p>\n However, his move to Italy was initially greeted with suspicion. During Vardy\u2019s first press conference, one reporter suggested that supporters in Italy would be \u201csceptical\u201d about players nearing 40.<\/p>\n \u201cWe tend to say, where\u2019s their motivation?\u201d the reporter added. \u201cHow fit are they?\u201d<\/p>\n But Vardy responded in style. \u201cYou must be one of the doubters,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019re one I\u2019ll have to prove wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n He then added: \u201cNo, listen, for me, age is just a number. As long as my legs are doing exactly what they used to and still feel as fresh as they do, then I will carry on.
