The Argentine forward has already drawn comparisons to compatriot and potential teammate Lautaro Martinez.

Santiago Castro Transfer News

Even though Barcelona are targeting Lautaro Martinez, Inter Milan remain confident they will keep hold of their star player. In fact, Inter wants to pair the World Cup winner with Santiago Castro.

The Argentina youth international could be joining the likes of Martinez, Pio Esposito, Marcus Thuram and Ange-Yoan Bonny in the Nerazzurri’s attack next season.

Cristian Chivu was keen to bring Castro on board this summer but opted for former employee Bonny instead. However, the Romanian head coach has been mightily impressed by Castro’s rapid rise.

Whilst Chivu and the Inter hierarchy continue to monitor Castro, a number of English Premier League sides are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old.

Nottingham Forest – who have a good relationship with Bologna after the acquisition of Dan Ndoye – believe Castro can be a long-term replacement for Chris Wood.

Aston Villa and Everton are also interested but last season’s Serie A runners-up are believed to be the front-runners to land his signature.

How Much Will Santiago Castro Cost?

In November, Bologna confirmed Santiago Castro’s price tag. The Rossoblu would be willing to do business for approximately €35million.

That would give the 2024-25 Coppa Italia winners a profit in the region of €22m. Castro moved to Emilia-Romagna in January 2024 from his native Velez Sarsfield.

From Inter Milan’s perspective, that figure falls well within their price range. Naturally, there is the potential for it to increase depending on how Castro performs until the end of the season.

If the 21-year-old continues to thrive under the guidance of Vincenzo Italiano, it’s likely the European hopefuls could demand around €40-50m.

Inter Milan Transfer Targets

Alongside Santiago Castro, Inter Milan are pursuing Branimir Mlacic. The Nerazzurri are set to beat Liverpool in the race for the 18-year-old defender.

Marseille and Real Madrid were also pursuing the Croatian wonderkid but Inter are trying to get the deal over the line in the January transfer window.

Meanwhile, Ederson, Ademola Lookman and Dusan Vlahovic are also being considered. So are the likes of Morten Frendrup, Sergio Ramos and James Trafford. The latter would be a long-term replacement for Yann Sommer.

Source link

Santiago Castro is expected to be the subject of a summer bid from Inter Milan, FootItalia has learned. The Serie A title chasers are keeping tabs on the Bologna star who has earned rave reviews for his performances so far this season.
