There was a point just a few short months ago where Francisco Concei\u00e7\u00e3o sticking around at Juventus looked extremely unlikely. He had seen a manager who wanted his wingers to be high-volume players fired and a new coach come in who didn\u2019t play with wingers at all. Because of that, Concei\u00e7\u00e3o\u2019s fit at Juve beyond the 2024-25 was just a complete unknown \u2014 and the early playing time under Igor Tudor that the diminutive received was reflective of that.<\/p>\n

But, things changed. And they changed for the better.<\/p>\n

Now, just a couple of months later, we know exactly where Concei\u00e7\u00e3o\u2019s future is going to be played. That, my friends, will come in black and white stripes.<\/p>\n

Juventus announced on Tuesday afternoon<\/a> that they have officially signed the 22-year-old Portuguese winger outright from FC Porto after Concei\u00e7\u00e3o spent last season on loan in Turin. In a Juventus climate that had the deal looking like it would be a lock to suddenly not looking all that likely to now back to Concei\u00e7\u00e3o being signed outright, the Bianconeri have paid a total of \u20ac30.2 million to Porto to bring the shifty No. 7 in on a permanent basis. The deal, which was reportedly closed last week, saw Juventus get things completed just before a clause in Concei\u00e7\u00e3o\u2019s contract went up another \u20ac15 million or so and would have made things even that much more difficult to get done.<\/p>\n

With his move to Turin now permanent, Concei\u00e7\u00e3o has signed a contract through 2030 with Juventus.<\/p>\n

Turin, 22 July 2025 \u2013 Juventus Football Club S.p.A. announces that an agreement with Porto FC for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Francisco Fernandes da Concei\u00e7\u00e3o has been reached for a consideration of \u20ac 30.4 million, payable in four financial years, with the addition of ancillary costs up to \u20ac 1.6 million. <\/p>\n

Juventus and the player have signed a contract of employment until the 30 June 2030.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

There you go, folks. After weeks of uncertainty about if a deal would actually get done, the penultimate day before preseason training gets underway sees one of Juve\u2019s big question marks from last season\u2019s roster actually settled.<\/p>\n

While there are still questions as to whether or not Concei\u00e7\u00e3o can fit in Tudor\u2019s 3-4-2-1 setup, the simple fact that they\u2019ve made this kind of investment \u2014 don\u2019t forget that he also cost as much as \u20ac10 million worth of a loan fee last summer \u2014 is that the club is confident that he can make an adjustment to not playing so wide like he did under Thiago Motta. <\/p>\n

The hope, of course, is that with more time in Tudor\u2019s system means that Concei\u00e7\u00e3o will only feel that much more comfortable. And with it, the natural playmaking ability that he has will start to truly show on a consistent basis.<\/p>\n

The consistency is what many can say is still eluding Concei\u00e7\u00e3o despite all the talent he has in his 5-foot-7 frame. While he had his share of bright moments last season, there were also plenty of games in which he left a lot to be desired. In 37 games across all competitions last season, Concei\u00e7\u00e3o finished with five goals and four assists. But, as Juve\u2019s website is quick to note, he also did the following:<\/p>\n

\u2014 Since arriving last August, only Kenan Yildiz (84) has completed more dribbles than Conceicao (71) among Juventus players across all competitions.<\/p>\n

\u2014 In Serie A (all comps), only Fiorentina\u2019s Moise Kean (19) attempted more shots following a successful dribble than Conceicao (12).<\/p>\n

\u2014 No Juventus player has created more shooting opportunities for teammates after a successful dribble – four chances, tied with Andrea Cambiaso.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

So there are things to like about Concei\u00e7\u00e3o becoming a Juventus player on a permanent basis. Now there\u2019s only thing for him to do \u2014 turn those good moments into a much more common occurrence. He does that, and the \u20ac30 million price tag Juve just paid to Porto will look like a pretty good piece of business.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
