While Comolli will be the figure head of the new front office, he made it perfectly clear that he will be bringing in more than one or two voices to work alongside as they try to rebuild Juventus.

It looks as though Comolli has landed on at least one of those job openings.

According to just about every major outlet in Italy on Friday, Juventus are set to appoint former Monza director François Modesto as their new technical director. That word before the “director” is key considering Comolli has previously mentioned that he would like to hire a technical director as well as a sporting director after he himself was first hired last month. Just how much overlap they may have still remains to be seen, but Modesto is the first big hire outside of confirming Igor Tudor as manager that Comolli has made since becoming Juventus’ director general in the wake of Giuntoli’s exit after two years in charge.

Modesto, who last worked with Monza when the then-Silvio Berlusconi-owned side was first promoted to Serie A three years ago, was linked with a move to Roma to become their new sporting director. It never materialized, with Roma deciding to hire a different Frenchman, Florent Ghisolfi, who has since already left the club within the last year.

⚫️⚪️✍ François Modesto signs in as new Juventus technical director, key part of the new structure at the club. pic.twitter.com/iVYukiUDuS

— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 11, 2025

A former defender who played in Italy with Cagliari and Modena, most of Modesto’s playing career came in France with Monaco and Bastia. When Roma had interest in him for their sporting director role last summer, Modesto’s knowledge of Serie A and the Italian transfer market as a whole was one of his biggest reported strengths.

Modesto, 46, has previously worked as a scout for Olympiacos and then as Nottingham Forest’s technical director before joining Monza in 2022. During his first season with Monza, Modesto saw his new club finish in a surprising 11th place as well as thrive under first-year manager Raffaele Palladino after he was promoted from the club’s primavera side.

After leaving Monza in 2024, it was expected that Modesto would make a big jump over to the Italian capital and lead Roma. However, he eventually turned down a move to join Roma after the club parted ways with Tiago Pinto last winter.

Source link

We are a month removed from Juventus parting ways with Cristiano Giuntoli and bringing aboard Damien Comolli to lead the reshaping of the club’s sporting area.
