From one leader of the front office to another, Juventus have made one thing clear: Jonathan David was going to be a player they wanted to try and sign. Their interest is nothing close to newfound or opportunistic on the transfer market. Juve\u2019s pursuit of David has been a process, and something that has been going on for months, if not longer than that.<\/p>\n
Come Friday, though, the chase was officially over. Rather than trying to convince David to agree to final terms and close the deal, it was one step further.<\/p>\n
It was signing day \u2014 and David finally step foot in Turin.<\/p>\n
Juventus have announced<\/a> the signing of the 25-year-old David, who arrives as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Lille at the end of June. David has signed a five-year contract with the Bianconeri through 2030 and will reportedly earn a salary worth \u20ac6 million net a season with another \u20ac2 million in bonuses. Domestically, he\u2019s recorded 20 or more goal contributions over that same span. He scored 24, 19 and 16 goals the past three seasons with Lille, and has the versatility to be a player who is going to give Juventus a different look than the player who has dominated the conversation in attack the last few years.<\/p>\n David announced in May that he would be leaving Lille, the club he has been at since the summer of 2020 after signing for a club-record fee from Belgian side Gent.<\/p>\n David \u2014 who was born in Brooklyn, New York, but raised in Quebec \u2014 is also Canada\u2019s all-time leading scorer with 36 goals in 67 appearances.<\/p>\n 37 – Jonathan #David<\/a> has been involved in 37 goals in 49 matches for Lille (25 goals + 12 assists) in the 2024\/25 season; among Ligue 1 players only Ousmane Demb\u00e9l\u00e9 (46) and Bradley Barcola (39) have taken part in more goals in all competitions. He has moved from Belgium to France, and now France to the biggest club in Italy. The hope is that David is part of a roster that helps Juventus get back to their former domestic glory.
