Venezia then picked up two bookings in quick succession. Sohm was cautioned for a foul in the 39th minute and Juan Jesus followed him into the book two minutes later. Shortly after, Como were awarded a penalty, and Da Cunha scored it in the 43rd minute for what proved to be the only goal.
Da Cunha, rated 7.08, was replaced after 73 minutes. Kaiki was the only Como player booked, in the 86th minute.
Jacobo Ramón Naveros leads a dominant Como display
The margin was narrow, but the numbers were one-sided. Como generated 1.63 expected goals against Venezia’s 0.23 and forced Stanković into 3 saves, while Butez had only 1 to make. The hosts won 8 corners to Venezia’s 1 and took 10 of their shots from inside the box.
Jacobo Ramón Naveros was rated 7.33, the highest on the pitch. Luis Milla, on 7.2, created 3 chances, and Kempf was rated 7.19. For Venezia, Halhal earned a 7.08 rating at the back. Nicola’s side managed just 1 shot on target all game.
The result ended a run of uneven results between the clubs. Their two Serie A meetings in the 2024-25 season finished 2-2 in Venice and 1-1 in Como.
Como fifth, Venezia two points adrift at the bottom
Como are fifth with 20 points from 9 games, one point behind AC Milan and five behind joint leaders Lazio and Inter. Their recent run also includes a 4-1 win over Manchester United and a 3-1 victory over Torino.
Venezia remain rooted to the foot of the table. They have 3 points from 9 matches, with a single win, against Napoli, and a goal difference of -13. Parma and Udinese, the two sides directly above them, both have 5 points.
That makes Venezia’s next fixture a pressing one. Nicola’s team host Udinese in Serie A on Friday 6 November. Before then, Como turn to the Champions League with a trip to Lens on Wednesday 4 November.
