Anguissa and McTominay put Napoli in front

McTominay doubled the lead three minutes after the restart. Politano supplied the assist.
Roma replied. Soulé pulled one back in the 69th minute, set up by Malen, and five minutes later Balerdi, who was not in the starting line-up and had been booked on 61 minutes, levelled from Santiago Thomas Castro’s assist. Soulé finished with 4 key passes and a rating of 8.2.
Balerdi answers McTominay’s second
McTominay restored Napoli’s advantage in the 83rd minute, with Olivera the provider. It was his second goal of the afternoon, and he was rated 9.04, the highest on the pitch.
De Roon was booked for dissent three minutes later. In the 89th minute Balerdi struck again, assisted by Wesley, to make it level for a second time. His two goals came in 32 minutes on the pitch and earned him a rating of 8.97.
Roma had 60% of the ball, completed 499 passes to Napoli’s 296 and took 24 shots to 15, although 13 of theirs were blocked. They also won 11 corners to Napoli’s 2. Napoli were more accurate, with 9 attempts on target against 4, and edged expected goals 2.42 to 1.92. Gollini made 5 saves.
Roma unbeaten and two points behind Inter and Lazio
The point leaves Roma third on 17 points from seven matches, two behind joint leaders Inter and Lazio and level with fourth-placed Como, who have played once more. Gasperini’s side are unbeaten in the league with five wins and two draws. Malen is third in the scoring chart on 6 goals.
Napoli are 10th with 10 points, having won 4-3 against Bodo/Glimt in their previous outing. This was the sixth straight meeting without a Roma win in this fixture. February’s game at the same ground also finished level, 2-2.
Roma host Cagliari on Tuesday 27 October. Napoli travel to Monza a day later, on Wednesday 28 October.
