The Roma wing-back has privately contacted his Brazil teammate about a January move to the capital, according to Corriere dello Sport, with the Giallorossi reported to be leading Milan in the race.
Roma’s Brazilian wing-back Wesley has personally reached out to Real Madrid striker Endrick, telling his international teammate he would be delighted to see him in the capital, according to Corriere dello Sport. The Giallorossi are working on a January deal for the forward and are trying to get ahead of Milan, who are also interested.
The newspaper stresses that the club did not orchestrate the approach. It was a spontaneous exchange between two friends who know each other from the Brazil set-up, rather than a recruitment tactic arranged by the Roma hierarchy.
There is history behind the gesture. In June, Wesley was ruled out of Brazil’s squad through injury a week before the World Cup began, and Endrick was among those who sent him a message at the time. The Roma player’s latest contact is therefore, in part, a friend repaying that support.
Public courtship in August
It is also not the first time Wesley has made his feelings known. During Roma’s pre-season training camp in the UK in August, he was asked about the prospect of Endrick joining him in Serie A and did not hide his enthusiasm, while making clear the final call lay elsewhere.
“It’s obvious that I’d really like it if he came to Roma, but it’s him who decides what’s best for his future. I’d like to see lots of Brazilians here, there are several who could be useful to us, but in the end it’s always the sporting director who decides. Anyway, if he came, I’d be very happy.”
Those words carry more weight now. Roma’s interest has moved from summer speculation to a concrete target for the winter window.
Roma ahead of Milan for January
Reports indicate that Roma currently hold the edge over Milan in the pursuit of the Real Madrid forward. Neither club has made any official statement on the player, and no fee or loan structure has been confirmed.
For Endrick, a move to Italy would offer the chance of regular football away from Madrid. For Roma, the presence of a close friend in the dressing room could become a useful card in a two-club contest. Any agreement would still need Real Madrid’s approval, and the transfer window does not open until January.
