The Oosterwolde transfer to Roma has collapsed after medical concerns, with the defender returning to Fenerbahce amid reports of a longer absence.
Roma have decided against signing Jayden Oosterwolde after the Dutch defender failed a medical, according to Sky Sport Italia.
The 25-year-old is set to return to Fenerbahce, with further tests reportedly suggesting he could be out of action until December or January.
The clubs had reached an agreement the previous week for a loan worth €1m, with an option to buy for a further €15m plus add-ons. The option would have become an obligation if certain conditions had been met.

Roma’s concerns centred on Oosterwolde’s thigh injury. He had not played for Fenerbahce since early August, and the issue was assessed during his medical tests this week.
Those tests reportedly heightened concerns about the defender’s fitness. Further examinations suggested a longer absence was possible, placing the proposed transfer in doubt despite the agreement between the clubs.
Fee and contract structure
The original framework was a €1m loan fee, with Roma holding an option to buy Oosterwolde for a further €15m plus add-ons at the end of the season. Under the initial terms, that option would have converted into an obligation if specified conditions were satisfied.
Reports earlier in the day indicated that Roma were prepared to alter the arrangement to a free loan in response to the fitness concerns. However, the move did not go ahead.

The accounts of the final breakdown differ. Sky Sport Italia reported that the transfer was abandoned and that Oosterwolde was flying back to Istanbul after Roma decided not to complete the signing.
Turkish transfer pundit Yagiz Sabuncuoglu gave a different version, reporting that Oosterwolde withdrew from the move after rejecting revised personal terms and the temporary nature of the proposed deal. The reports therefore agree that the transfer has collapsed, while differing on how the negotiations reached that point.
