Milan are reportedly considering Jean-Matteo Bahoya as Rafael Leao weighs a potential move to Galatasaray or Aston Villa.

Milan are reportedly considering Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya as a potential replacement should Rafael Leao leave the club, according to Football Italia.

The report, published on 27 August 2026, states that Galatasaray and Aston Villa are prepared to meet Milan’s €50m asking price, including add-ons, for the Portuguese forward. The final decision on any move is reported to rest with Leao.

The wider picture around Leao’s Milan future has put the club’s reported interest in Bahoya into focus. Milan’s search for an alternative is linked to the prospect of Leao’s departure, with the reported €50m package central to the situation.

Bahoya’s Route from Angers to Frankfurt

Bahoya, 21, came through the Angers youth academy before joining Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024 for a fee of around €8m. The Frenchman can play on the left wing, as a trequartista behind the striker or as a centre-forward.

That positional flexibility makes Bahoya one of the names reportedly under consideration as Milan assess options for their attack. According to Footmercato, he is a prominent name on the club’s wish list.

The Contract and Fee Picture

The reported €50m figure relates to Leao and includes add-ons, with Galatasaray and Aston Villa said to be ready to meet Milan’s asking price. Bahoya’s move from Angers to Frankfurt, meanwhile, was completed in January 2024 for around €8m.

Bahoya is under contract with Frankfurt until June 2029.

Fitting the Amorim Blueprint

Football Italia frames Milan’s search around finding a player who can fit into Ruben Amorim‘s formation. Bahoya’s ability to cover the left wing, the number 10 role and centre-forward duties gives him a range of attacking options.

He is also known for his pace, having reached 37 km/h in a Bundesliga match.

Arsenal and the Competition

Milan are not the only club linked with the Frenchman. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Fenerbahce and Everton have also shown interest in Bahoya, according to the report.

What Happens Next

The reported Milan interest in Bahoya is tied to Leao’s decision between Galatasaray and Aston Villa. Should Leao leave, the Rossoneri’s search for an attacking replacement would move forward with Bahoya among the players linked to the club.

Those following the broader market interest around Leao will be watching for Leao’s decision.
