Serie A side Como continue to try to bolster their backline, having already signed Trevoh Chalobah. They are now nearing a deal for ex-Manchester United player Willy Kambwala.
The talent did make some first-team appearances for the Red Devils before moving to Villarreal.
He hasn’t quite lived up to his potential but regardless, Como have come calling for him.
Matteo Moretto has now reported that the lakeside club are now closing in on Kambwala. Villarreal and Como have reached an agreement over an initial loan deal with an option to buy and the final signatures are the only pending part of the process.
Alfredo Pedulla reports that discussions over the finalisation of the move will follow.
Kambwala is likely to come in as a replacement for Diego Carlos, who could yet join Fenerbahce. The Turkish club will soon hold further talks for the Brazilian.
He wasn’t the first-choice and the ex-Manchester United player is likely to end up as a squad player under Cesc Fabregas.
