Excess Players Obstacling Milan Reinforcement Plans

Milan plan to make at least a pair of additions but they have been stuck in mud in recent weeks because of the lack of movement in the other direction. After their splurging early on Gonçalo Ramos and Mario Gila, their only signing has been a young defender, Sankhoum Diawara from Troyes.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the delay is caused by the fact that Ruben Amorim is assessing everybody and the terms for their prospective sales and next acquisitions aren’t too favorable at the moment. Plus, the Rossoneri don’t have a proper sporting director but rather a front office led by analytics guys who are more accustomed to scouting.

Rafael Leao isn’t the only cumbersome player on the way out, but only at the right price. Youssouf Fofana, Yunus Musah, Samuele Ricci, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Santiago Gimenez, and Fikayo Tomori are in the same boat. At least one among Samuel Chukwueze, Pervis Estupinan, and Zachary Athekame will leave too.

The Rossoneri have added Dario Osorio to their shortlist. He stars for Midtjylland, can play in a few roles up front and on the wing, and has a €15/20M price tag. Instead, they haven’t abandoned the idea of acquiring Gonçalo Inacio in the back, if somebody exits. They are keen on Matias Soulé, but only if they can get him for less than what Roma currently demand, preferably on loan with an option to buy.

While it’s true that the transfer market is moving slowly for many teams and that they have some legitimate justifications, their blazing-fast start had fueled hopes for a pyrotechnic summer; instead, they have been a little too slow and quiet since their two early splashes.
