Daniel Svensson has emerged as a transfer target for Inter Milan as the Nerazzurri consider boosting their defensive options.
The Borussia Dortmund left-back is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Leeds but Inter are firmly in the race for the Sweden international, reports Bild.
Head coach Cristian Chivu is already plotting for the summer despite the January window only closing on Monday. The 2010 treble winner will send scouts to provide feedback on the Dortmund star over the coming months.
Daniel Svensson Earmarked For Inter Milan Transfer
With Barcelona targeting Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco wanted by Arsenal, Inter Milan are already making plans to fill the left side of defense.
Although Inter will fight hard to keep Bastoni and Dimarco – who are two of the Nerazzurri’s most influential players – the duo may decide to move on.
And that is where Daniel Svensson comes in. The Borussia Dortmund man has earned rave reviews this season and is considered one of Dortmund’s finest assets.
Svensson can operate as a left-wing back which fits into Cristian Chivu’s preferred 3-5-2 formation. The Scandinavian has chipped in with five goals and five assists over the last two seasons in Germany.
Not only does Svensson offer a great attacking threat, he is an extremely reliable and solid defender. Meaning his versatility is something of which Chivu can commonly utilize.
How Much Would Daniel Svensson Cost Inter Milan?
As it stands, Borussia Dortmund will demand €30million for Daniel Svensson. That price tag falls well within Inter Milan’s budget.
Especially if the likes of Bastoni and Dimarco were sold for sizable sums. With the fee set, it’s likely more suitors will emerge between now and July.
English Premier League interest is already gaining traction with Arsenal and Leeds keeping watch. Liverpool were keeping tabs on Svensson but opted to sign Milos Kerkez instead.
Svensson is set to come on the radar of a number of Europe’s elite which comes as little surprise owing to his swashbuckling appearances at Signal Iduna Park.
If the scouting reports come back positive from Inter’s staff, Cristian Chivu will need to move quickly. The Romanian earned legendary San Siro status for his exploits 16 years ago which could prove vital in luring Svensson.
