Cristian Chivu has a decision to make over Henrikh Mkhitaryan as the Armenian prepares for a return.
Inter Milan have received a positive injury update over Henrikh Mkhitaryan ahead of their Serie A clash against Pisa.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan To Return Against Pisa
The Armenian international has been out of action for over a month after coming off during Inter’s was forced off early during the 3-1 defeat by Napoli on October 25th.
Mkhitaryan suffered a severe strain in his left thigh and has missed six matches across all competitions, but the 36-year-old has now made a recovery and is back in training.
Cristian Chivu now has a decision to make over the Armenian’s inclusion, as Mkhitaryan has been cleared to return to the matchday squad on November 30th – but Inter will not want to rush the veteran midfielder.
However, Inter’s recent performances could force the Nerazzurri boss into a host of changes as Chivu’s men have lost their last two matches in all competitions.
The Italian side were beaten 2-1 by Atletico Madrid in their latest outing and this defeat saw huge question marks be cast over Lautaro Martinez’s future with Inter Milan.
The Argentinian was substituted after 72-minutes with the game sitting at 1-1 and was visibly frustrated after the match, meaning he could be dropped from the starting lineup against Pisa.
Although Mkhitaryan’s return will be a huge boost to Inter Milan, Cristian Chivu has received some disappointing news over Denzel Dumfries ahead of the trip to Pisa.
Inter Milan Concerns Grow Over Denzel Dumfries
The Dutch defender has been on the sidelines since November 9th after being forced off during Inter’s 2-0 win over Lazio and was expected to return before the clash against Pisa.
However, Dumfries’ recovery has not gone according to plan and the Inter Milan star’s return has been pushed back to December 9th, in time for the Champions League tie against Liverpool.
Dumfries was set to feature in Inter’s matchday squad after the performance against Atletico Madrid caused Cristian Chivu to question the Nerazzurri squad.
Carlos Augusto has filled Dumfries’ spot on the right-hand side and Inter have lost both matches in the Dutchman’s absence – including a derby day defeat.
Chivu is not spoiled for options in this area of the pitch and Augusto is expected to feature in the starting eleven once again as Dumfries remains on the sidelines.
