Christian Pulisic further enforced his indispensable AC Milan status as he scored the only goal of the game in the derby on matchday 12.

Pulisic netted in the 54th minute against arch rivals Inter Milan to earn the Rossoneri a valuable three points. Not only did Max Allegri’s men earn local bragging rights, they also moved above the Nerazzurri in the Serie A standings.

The result itself could easily have been very different, though. Wantaway goalkeeper Mike Maignan pulled off a number of saves including a penalty stop from Hakan Calhanoglu.

Maignan’s heroics earned the MVP award but it was Pulisic’s strike that means the USMNT star is the league’s finest attacking player since he joined the club in 2023.

How Many Serie A Goal Involvements Does Christian Pulisic Have For AC Milan?

After Christian Pulisic gunned down Inter Milan on November 23, the AC Milan ace now has 48 Serie A goal involvements over the last three seasons.

No player has more in that time across Italy’s elite soccer division. That in itself is a truly remarkable feat with Pulisic only moving to Milan in the 2023 summer transfer window.

Granted, he is on par with Inter’s Lautaro Martinez but Pulisic is clear of the likes of Marcus Thuram, Mateo Retegui – who has since quit Atalanta – and Romelu Lukaku.

Since making his debut, Pulisic has scored 28 top-flight goals and provided 20 assists. Two of those goals have come in the derby. Pulisic netted in the 2-1 ‘away’ victory last season.

Christian Pulisic 2025-26 Stats

This season alone, Christian Pulisic’s stock has continued to surge. His winner in the Milan derby means he is now the league’s joint-top scorer.

Pulisic shares the honor alongside Inter Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu – who missed a penalty at the weekend – and Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini.

The trio each have five strikes to their name but Pulisic boasts a much better goals-per-90 ratio at 1.07.

That is largely due to the fact he has only made eight appearances having missed four matchdays through injury. Calhanoglu and Orsolini have already hit double figures for league outings this term.

Pulisic has also provided two assists in Italy’s elite this season. His first came in the 3-0 victory against Udinese with his most recent coming in the matchday 5 win over Napoli.

Across all competitions in 2025-26, Pulisic has scored seven times, chipped in with a pair of assists from 10 outings. Meaning he has nine goal contributions so far this campaign.

Pulisic Reacts To AC Milan’s Derby Win Against Inter Milan

The goal means everything. Honestly, just the result today. It means more and puts us into a really good place,” Christian Pulisic said after AC Milan beat Inter Milan 1-0.

I’m really happy to come back after some tough moments in the last month. I think I can improve even more. I don’t feel 100% sharp after coming back from an injury and some time out.

But it just shows the resilience and I work really hard so I’m happy a moment like today can come. It means a lot to me.”

Can Pulisic Already Be Considered An AC Milan Great?

It’s perhaps a bit too soon to call Christian Pulisic an AC Milan great but he is very much on the right trajectory. After all, there are some huge names ahead of him who have achieved much more for the club.

Pulisic has been with Milan through their transitional period. The USMNT star is very much the focal point to getting the Rossoneri back on track and being recognized as a global superpower once again.

His brilliant goal contribution record is one of the finest in European soccer since the beginning of 2023-24. However, to become a San Siro legend, he needs to fire the Diavolo to glory domestically and on the continent.

That is why legends such as Paolo Maldini, Marco Van Basten, Gianni Rivera, Franco Baresi, Kaka, Ruud Gullit, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso and Andriy Shevchenko are all ahead of him currently.

The former San Siro heroes have all landed numerous major honors while representing the world famous club. Pulisic can only boast a single Supercoppa Italiana so far.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Pulisic’s name being mentioned in the same way as some of the examples above but loyalty and major trophies will help catapult him into Milan’s legendary status.

Will Christian Pulisic Sign A New Contract?

Talk of a new Christian Pulisic AC Milan contract has been rife for a number of months now. However, supporters will be somewhat concerned that he won’t extend beyond 2027.

That is when his current deal expires and although negotiations are continuing, it’s understood that Pulisic wants to be the club’s out-and-out top earner.

According to Capology, Christoper Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot take home the most at Milan currently. Pulisic’s form certainly justifies a hefty increase but it remains to be seen whether the Rossoneri can meet his demands.

If they do, it’s widely expected that Pulisic will pen new terms. If they can’t, there’s a possibility that the 27-year-old could be moved on after the World Cup where a sizable transfer fee could still be obtained.
