After clinching a place at the 2026 World Cup with Scotland, Scott McTominay has reignited flames over a return to the United Kingdom.

Scott McTominay could be heading back to England in 2026, as the Napoli star has attracted interest from a Premier League giant.

Premier League Giants Prepare Move For Scott McTominay

The Napoli midfielder is reportedly being monitored by Premier League side Everton as David Moyes looks to add some more star quality to his roster.

McTominay has enjoyed a rejuvenating spell with the Partenopei since moving to Italy in August 2024, going on to register 18 goal contributions in Serie A (12G + 6A) and winning the league title.

Putting in such a strong performance during his debut campaign also saw McTominay win the Serie A MVP award and the Scottish international finished 18th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

However, the 28-year-old has struggled to meet these standards in the 2025/26 season, scoring just two goals in Serie A and symbolizing Napoli’s poor form overall.

Antonio Conte has struggled to get the most out of his players so far, as the Partenopei sit fourth in Serie A and McTominay’s involvement has suffered in Romelu Lukaku’s absence.

The Belgian has been sidelined for three-months after picking up a knock in pre-season and Lukaku is expected to return from injury in December 2026.

Lukaku’s return should bring a much-needed boost to the Napoli roster, as the 32-year-old scored 14 league goals last season – but McTominay may have his heart set on a move away before the Belgian can find form once again.

Everton have reportedly made an inquiry over the Scot’s availability during the summer window, as the Toffee’s look to build on a mixed start to the season.

David Moyes’ side have accumulated 15-points from 11 league matches so far, but have picked up just one win in their last four – defeating Fulham in their latest Premier League encounter.

Finding the back of the net has been a major issue for Everton this season, as the Toffee’s have scored just 12 Premier League goals – with Thierno Barry and Beto continuing to struggle.

McTominay has proven to be a major goal-threat when utilized in the correct position, which will be a key consideration for David Moyes next year.

Napoli Set Huge Asking Price On Scottish International

Everton are reportedly ready to offer a club record transfer fee to bring McTominay to Merseyside, as the Toffee’s prepare a €70 million bid for the Scottish midfielder.

This would not only be a club record fee for Everton, but would also see Napoli double their money on the 28-year-old after spending €30.5m on the Scot.

However, the Partenopei have set a monstrous asking price on McTominay for the January window, as Aurelio De Laurentiis is looking for €80-85m.

McTominay’s deal in Naples does not expire until June 2028, meaning the Italian side will not be forced into a sale and have a firm hold on the Scot during any negotiations with Everton.

Napoli may accept a suitable offer in January as the Scudetto champions are looking to sign some star names to help climb up the table in 2026.

According to reports, the Serie A giants are targeting Harry Maguire, as the Manchester United defender is out of contract in June next year and is yet to cement a place under Ruben Amorim.

The Partenopei will have an additional issue to resolve with Manchester United come the end of the season, as Napoli will have to pay €40m for Rasmus Hojlund – if Conte’s men finish in the top four.

Spending this amount in 2026 will need to be supported by multiple exits, which could force Napoli into offloading McTominay and possibly accepting a lower offer from Everton.
