Ademola Lookman has reignited rumors over a move away from Atalanta in January after the Nigerian was involved in a heated exchange with Ivan Juric during La Dea’s Champions League win over Marseille.
Will Ademola Lookman Leave Atalanta In January?
After looking to have settled the tension between himself and La Dea, Ademola Lookman is back in the headlines after a clear disagreement with Atalanta boss, Ivan Juric.
The Serie A side secured a 1-0 victory over Marseille in the Champions League thanks to a 90th minute winner by Lazar Samardzic, but this came after Lookman’s dispute with the Atalanta manager.
In the 75th minute, Lookman was replaced by Yunus Musah and the Nigerian was visibly frustrated by the decision, leading to a heated dispute with Juric on the sidelines.
The 28-year-old thought he’d opened the scoring for Atalanta after 69 minutes, but his strike was ruled out for offside and left things all square.
Falling out with the Atalanta manager will not do Lookman any favors in relation to his connection with supporters, as the Nigerian is still looking to repair the damage made by his summer antics.
During the summer transfer window Lookman decided to release a public transfer request on social media and refused to take part in any training session or pre-season friendlies.
Lookman appeared to be on his way out of Bergamo, as the Nigerian looked to take a step up and join an elite club like Inter Milan – but La Dea rejected multiple bids from the Nerazzurri.
A move away from Bergamo failed to materialize and Lookman was forced to pay several fines, finally returning to the matchday squad on September 21st in Atalanta’s fourth Serie A clash.
His performances this season have failed to meet expectations, scoring just one goal in nine appearances across all competitions and show signs of a player that wants to move on.
Atalanta may have been keen on keeping a hold of Lookman until the 2026 summer window, but the recent issue between the Nigerian and Ivan Juric could see this exit come in January.

Are Any Clubs Interested In Ademola Lookman?
As we have previously mentioned, Inter Milan were the leading contenders to sign Lookman during the recent summer transfer window but the Nerazzurri ended their pursuit after Atalanta rejected a €45 million bid.
La Dea are unlikely to lower their asking price for the Nigerian during the January transfer window, however, Lookman’s recent performances and issues could force the club into a sale.
Atalanta’s stance will also depend on whether Lookman moves to another Serie A side, as La Dea are reportedly willing to accept a lower fee from a team outside of Italy.
Arsenal were linked with the Nigerian international for a brief period before signing Eberechi Eze and Mikel Arteta may look to revisit the deal in January as the Gunners search for their first Premier League title in over two decades.
A return to the Premier League is reportedly something that interests the Nigerian international and a move to Manchester United could be a viable option.
The Red Devils brought in a host of attackers during the summer, but with Joshua Zirkzee attracting interest from Roma, there may be room for another option in January.
Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool could also enter the fray, as Lookman would only move to a side that is battling for European competition this season.
The final option for Lookman is a switch to Bayern Munich, as the Bundesliga side saw a loan move for the Nigerian be rejected in the final stages of the summer window.
Vincent Kompany’s side have made a flawless start to the season, winning each of their nine league matches and picking up four wins in the Champions League – meaning Lookman may not be targeted in January.
Could Ademola Lookman Sign New Atalanta Contract?
Before Lookman’s recent dispute with Ivan Juric, there had been talks over a new contract in Bergamo, as the Nigerian’s deal is set to expire in June 2027.
The 28-year-old is reportedly earning around €44,000 per week, which makes him the 10th highest paid player at the club and does not represent his importance at the club.
Negotiations over a new deal have stalled since the start of the season and Lookman is unlikely to agree a new deal, with hopes of forcing a move next year.
