Luciano Spalletti has been officially announced as the new Juventus head coach – causing quite a stir among Bianconeri supporters.
Spalletti has put pen to paper on an eight month deal. The former Azzurri boss will have the option to extend into next season should a top-four finish be achieved.
Furthermore, Spalletti’s Juve salary will see him paid a reported €3million. That means he is one of Serie A’s highest earners but trailing the likes of Antonio Conte, Max Allegri and Gian Piero Gasperini.

Soccer Supporters React To Luciano Spalletti’s Appointment As Juventus Boss
Although some Juventus fans are hoping Luciano Spalletti can convince Dusan Vlahovic to stay, many are concerned about his ties to former club Napoli.
Those ‘ties’ are somewhat permanent. Spalletti has a Gli Azzurri tattoo etched into his left forearm. It was slapped on him after he led the club to Serie A glory as he vowed his time in club management was complete.
“Repeat after me: long sleeves,” was the reaction from one user on X after the Bianconeri officially confirmed his appointment on October 30.
Another supporter simply stated: “Erase this tattoo!!!”
However, others were less critical, with one user announcing: “After having already thrown up for days, I’m ready to support him just like I did with all the Juventus coaches. I continue to be skeptical, but I’ll be more than happy to be proven wrong. Welcome Mister!”
One wrote about Spalletti’s tactics and believes his style will benefit the Old Lady: “Spalletti at Juventus means more intricate build-up play and ball circulation rather than old-school counter-attacks. Watching Danilo operate as an inverted fullback in training is already a treat. Serie A could be in for a tactical shake-up.”

Interestingly, Spalletti has already set a number of records just via his Juve appointment. He’ll be the oldest head coach to sit in the Bianconeri dugout at 66.
He is also just the third manager to take charge of Inter, Roma and Juve. Claudio Ranieri and Jesse Carver are the others.
Who Will Luciano Spalletti Face In His First Game As Juventus Head Coach?
Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti will be in the dugout for the matchday 10 clash against Cremonese at the Stadio Giovanni Zini on November 1. Spalletti is also expected to have Giovanni Martusciello in place as his first team coach.
Although Spalletti’s formation of 4-2-3-1 is his preferred lineup, the 66-year-old is expected to employ the same three-man defense used by predecessor Igor Tudor.
That is likely down to the fact Spalletti will have spent very little time with the Juventus squad. It will also give him the opportunity to discover the main flaws that have hindered the Bianconeri this season.
The match itself appears kind on paper. However, last season’s Serie B playoff winners have made a strong start to 2025-26. Not only did the Grigiorossi beat AC Milan on matchday 1, they have only suffered one league defeat this campaign.
What Clubs Has Luciano Spalletti Managed And What Trophies Has He Won?
Luciano Spalletti’s career in management started in 1993 with Empoli. He has also been employed as head coach of Sampdoria, Venezia, Udinese, Ancona and Inter Milan.
However, his most notable spells in Serie A came during his first stint with Roma and Napoli. Spalletti won successive Coppa Italia’s with the Giallorossi in 2007 and 2008.
He also led the club to back-to-back Champions League finishes in his second spell in the capital. This was achieved having upset supporters for dropping club legend Francisco Totti in 2017 and using him more as an impact sub.
With the Gli Azzurri, Spalletti won the Scudetto which catapulted him into Napoli legend. That title success came in 2022-23 whereby he promptly left Naples to take the Italy job.
Elsewhere, Spalletti also enjoyed success on the continent. During his five years with Zenit St Petersburg, he won two Russian Premier League title as well as the Russian Cup.
