Atalanta are reportedly monitoring Galatasaray star, Yunus Akgun, as Ivan Juric is still unsure over the future of Ademola Lookman.
Will Atalanta Sign Yuns Akgun From Galatasaray?
The Serie A side are looking to bolster their side in the January window and Yunus Akgun is a name that has been pushed right to the top of the shortlist.
Since signing for Galatasaray in July 2018 Akgun has become a valuable member of the Turkish side, contributing to 43 goals in 114 appearances (21G + 23A).
The 25-year-old has picked up three Super Lig titles, two Turkish Cups and Turkish Super Cup, while also winning the EFL Championship with Leicester during a loan spell with Leicester in 2023/24.
Akgun has also become a regular member of the Turkish national team, accumulating 17 caps and representing his country at the 2024 European Championships.
This season, the Turkish star has cemented his place in the Galatasaray side, starting in seven of the eight league matches and both Champions League fixtures – even captaining the side against Frankfurt.
These performances mean Akgun is almost certain to be represent Turkey in the United States next year, as the Crescent-Stars are one win away from qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
Performing at soccer’s biggest competition can lead to huge moves in the weeks following, however, Akgun could part ways with Galatasaray before the tournament begins.
Atalanta are said to be huge admirers of the Turkish international but face a slight obstacle, as Akgun signed a four-year deal with Galatasaray in August 2025.
Prying Akgun away from Galatasaray will not be an easy task as the 25-year-old worked his way through the clubs’ academy system and is a lifeling supporter – however Atalanta could be on the hunt for a new forward if Ademola Lookman pushes for a move in January.
Is Ademola Lookman Going To Leave Atalanta?
Ademola Lookman’s situation with Atalanta was one of the biggest talking points of the 2025 summer transfer window, as the Nigerian publicly requested a move elsewhere.
The Atalanta star appeared to be set on a move to Serie A rivals, Inter Milan, as the Nerazzurri saw two bids be rejected and ended their pursuit after a €55 million offer was turned down.
Lookman’s relationship with the Bergamo-based side took a hit during pre-season, as the 27-year-old refused to train with the club and was absent from every friendly encounter.
Atalanta handed Lookman multiple fines and the Nigerian made his return to the starting eleven in La Dea’s most recent league clash against Como.
Lookman’s deal with Atalanta does not expire until June 2027 and there have been murmurs over an extended contract for the Nigerian international.
If Lookman decides to sign a new deal with La Dea then Ivan Juric may not look to bring in a new attacking player in January, however, the 27-year-old could try to force another move.
Atalanta are reportedly willing to offer Lookman an improved salary of €3m, which would keep the former Fulham player at the club until 2028.
