AC Milan supporters have shared their relief regarding the positive news surrounding the latest Rafael Leao injury update.

The Rossoneri have been without Leao for most of the 2025-26 campaign. However, that hasn’t stopped returning head coach Max Allegri from making a strong start back in the dugout at the San Siro.

Allegri has led the Diavolo to the Coppa Italia round of 16 and to third spot in the league. The only Serie A defeat has come against Cremonese on MD1.

Rafael Leao Injury Update Bodes Well For AC Milan

On October 12, it was revealed that Rafael Leao had left the Portugal camp. Therefore, he will not feature in the remaining WCQ this month.

Rafael Leao was dismissed from the National Team and will not participate in the match against Hungary,” a statement from the Portuguese official federation read.

The decision to dismiss the player was made by the national team coach, Roberto Martínez, after assessing the physical condition of the player who participated, off  the bench, in the Portugal-Republic of Ireland match.

The reason for his withdrawal is completely precautionary. The 26-year-old is still regaining full fitness after the calf injury he sustained against Bari in the Coppa Italia.

Although Leao hasn’t started for club or country since August 17, he is expected to feature against Fiorentina on MD7. Sunday’s clash will likely come too soon to make the main XI but featuring off the bench is likely.

AC Milan Fans Happy Rafael Leao Has Returned To Club

Milan supporters were quick to share their delight that Rafael Leao has been able to quit the Portugal camp. Especially as he can now focus on returning to full fitness.

The same views were shared on Adrien Rabiot. The summer signing from Marseille has also entertained an injury problem but is on the road to recovery.

That’s a big boost for Milan, as having Leao and Rabiot fit means their attacking and midfield balance stays intact,” said one user on X (formerly Twitter).

Another stated: “Phew, Milanistas can breathe easy! Leao’s just playing hard to get with those international vibes, and Rabiot’s calf is basically whispering ‘I’m fine, bro.’”

“AC Milan’s injury board finally taking a day off because Leao and Rabiot aren’t causing chaos,” another comment playfully explained.

Leao is widely considered as one of the Rossoneri’s best players. His form will be paramount to their continued success on the field. However, he will need to usurp Santiago Gimenez in the coming weeks to reinstate his position in the starting XI.

Will Rafael Leao Feature Against Fiorentina?

According to reports, Rafael Leao will train on his own whilst the rest of the squad have further time off owing to October’s international break.

A lot will hinge on whether his condition drastically improves between now and the Fiorentina game. The MD7 clash is penciled in for October 19.

So far this season, Leao has managed 48 minutes of league action. He featured in the 2-1 win over Napoli and the goalless draw with Juventus last time out.

Therefore, he has a decent chance of playing against La Viola on Sunday but his fitness and overall condition will be carefully monitored before a final decision is made.
