Federico Chiesa has been excluded from Liverpool’s Champions League squad for the game against Galatasaray and it has now emerged that the player himself rejected an exit from Anfield.
The Italian was initially excluded from the squad list for the competition but was later added after Giovanni Leoni’s injury.
Calciomercato report that many clubs contacted Liverpool for Chiesa in the summer. This included the likes of Napoli, Roma, Milan and Inter. The winger’s entourage was also contacted and there was also interest from Turkey.
But Chiesa himself made a clear and definitive choice about his future and wanted to stay at Liverpool. His goal against Bournemouth also played a role in this decision.
So far, the choice hasn’t led to fruit even though he has already contributed to four goals in all competitions this summer. The next few months will dictate a lot of opinion about this, with the 27-year-old certainly keen on playing in the World Cup next summer.
