After beating current champions Napoli on MD5, can Milan be considered as genuine 2025-26 Serie A title contenders?

First-half goals from Alexis Saelemaekers and Christian Pulisic helped the Rossoneri to a fine 2-1 victory at the San Siro. Kevin De Bruyne replied for the visitors after Pervis Estupinan was dismissed.

Nonetheless, Max Allegri’s side held on to claim a fourth league victory on the bounce. They now sit top of Italy’s elite soccer division with 12 points from 15.

Milan Serie A Titles

Milan is the third most successful side in Serie A history. The Rossoneri have 19 titles to their name with the last win coming in the 2021-22 campaign.

Only Inter and Juventus have more victories to their name. The Nerazzurri currently have 20 wins whereas Juve can boast 36 – a feat which makes them the clear leaders.

Head coach Max Allegri will be keen to level with the Diavolo’s arch rivals next May. However, Milan’s bright start does offer hope that Allegri can lead them to glory at the end of the season.

Are Milan Genuine Title Contenders?

With Rafael Leao back after his calf strain and USMNT star Christian Pulisic picking up where he left off from last season, it’s fair to assume that Milan will be there or there abouts in the title race.

Naturally, there is a very long way to go but the signs so far have been very positive. The likes of Leao and Pulisic would improve most soccer teams across the globe and with serial winner Max Allegri steering the ship, anything is possible.

The disappointment of last season appears to be firmly behind the Rossoneri. A host of changes to the playing personal have proven hugely beneficial so far.

If Milan can stay motivated, beat the ‘bigger’ teams around them, avoid major injuries and add sensibly in January, they’ll certainly be in the mix for the 2025-26 Serie A title.

Christian Pulisic 2025-26 Stats

One of the main reasons for Milan’s electric start to the season is down to Christian Pulisisc’s red hot form. The USMNT captain has scored six goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season.

That feat is even more impressive considering the 27-year-old has only completed 90 minutes just once from seven appearances in 2025-26.

Pulisic – alongside Como’s Nico Paz – have easily been the best performers in Italy’s elite soccer division so far. If the former Chelsea and Dortmund star can maintain such form, it would not be a surprise to see Milan crowned as champions.

Overall for the Rossoneri, Pulisic has 63 goal contributions in 107 outings. If Milan were to go on to win the Scudetto, Pulisic’s output would be the main source of their success.
