Como Vs Sassuolo Preview

Como will turn their attention to the Coppa Italia on September 24 after claiming a smash and grab win against Fiorentina on the weekend.

Rolando Mandragora gave the Viola and early lead in Florence. However, the Lariani leveled via a Marc-Oliver Kempf effort before snatching a 2-1 win in the last minute through Jayden Addai.

Interestingly, Cesc Fabregas’s side could return to the Artemio Franchi in December if they are victorious in their second round encounter on Wednesday.

They beat Sudtirol 3-1 on home turf last time out in Italy’s elite cup competition. Anastasios Douvikas scored twice with Lucas Da Cunha also netting at the Sinigaglia on August 16.

Overall this season, Como has won three of thir five games in all competitions and has just one defeat to their name. That came against Coppa Italia holders Bologna on MD2 of the 2025-26 campaign.

As for Sassuolo, the newly-promoted side has just one league victory to their name this season. That came against Lazio on MD3 with Alieu Fadera scoring the only goal of the game at the Mapei Stadium.

Fabio Grosso’s side set up the second round clash after beating Catanzaro by a single goal. Josh Doig scored in the 32nd minute on home turf.

They are the only two victories the Emilians can boast in all competitions this season. Last time out against Inter, Grosso saw his side go down 2-1 at the San Siro.

Como Vs Sassuolo Team News And Predicted Lineups

After Cesc Fabregas likened Como midfielder Nico Paz to Lionel Messi, the Argentine starlet is set to be rested on Wednesday. In fact, Fabregas is likely to rotate a number of players.

Martin Baturina is in line to start and so is Jayden Addai. Spaniard Jacobo Ramon is in contention after serving a recent Serie A ban.

Assane Diao’s metatarsal injury means he is ruled out alongside Alberto Dossena and Ignace Van Der Brempt. Having scored twice in the first round, Anastasios Douvikas shoukd start in attack.

Meanwhile, Sassuolo is also expected to rest a number of players. Armand Lauriente – who almost signed for Sunderland in the summer – is set to be given the night off having featured in all four league games.

Alieu Fadera – who is on loan from Como – looks set to be given the nod up front. In terms of injuries, only Yeferson Paz is a guaranteed absentee. Fabio Grosso will make a late call on Sebastian Walukiewicz who missed the Inter game.

Como predicted lineup: Vigorito; Vojvoda, Ramon, Kempf, Moreno; Caqueret, Da Cunha; Addai, Baturina, Rodriguez; Douvikas

Sassuolo predicted lineup: Turati; Coulibaly, Cande, Romagna, Doig; Thorstvedt, Boloca, Lipani; Pierini, Cheddira, Fadera

Como Vs Sassuolo Prediction

With both sides more focused on their league performances, we are predicting a tight and cagey affair at the Sinigaglia on September 24.

Especially as a number of players are set to be rested for the Coppa Italia clash. However, Como should just about shade it and progress to round three at the expense of Sassuolo.

Prediction: Como 2-1 Sassuolo

Como Vs Sassuolo Betting Tips

🔎 Como vs Sassuolo betting tip 1: Como to win and BTTS at +300

A combination of home advantage and being able to call upon more superior players should entice punters at +300 for Como to progress and Sassuolo to at least get on the scoresheet.

🔎 Como vs Sassuolo betting tip 2: Martin Baturina to score anytime at +500

Although Martin Baturina hasn’t quite hit the ground running since moving to Como this summer, the Croatian should be given a full run out and being priced at +500 to net anytime offers plenty of value.
