Jamie Vardy Injury News

The former Premier League champion made his debut for Cremonese on September 15th, coming off the bench during a 0-0 stalemate away from home to Hellas Verona.

This was Vardy’s first taste of competitive action since May, as the Englishman left Leicester City after 13-years with the Foxes and parted ways as the clubs’ record Premier League goalscorer.

His move to Italy came as a surprise to soccer fans across the globe, with many expecting the 38-year-old to either retire or remain in the United Kingdom.

However, Vardy decided to take on a new challenge in Serie A and is the third oldest player in Italy’s top division behind Luka Modric and Edin Dzeko.

Signing a player at 38-years-old will obviously bring it’s risks and Cremonese have taken swift action following Vardy’s first appearance, as the Englishman reportedly carried out test following issues over muscular fatigue.

Gameweek four of Serie A kicks off on Friday 19th September with Lecce vs Cagliari and Cremonese will be in action two-days after as they take on Parma at home.

Nicola Davide’s side have made an impressive start to their Serie A campaign after earning promotion from the second division last season, remaining undefeated from the opening three matches.

Cremonese began the season with a monumental victory, beating AC Milan 2-1 at the San Siro, before earning a 3-2 victory over Sassuolo a week later.

The newly-promoted side will be hoping to see Jamie Vardy make his first home appearance on September 21st, but will have to wait for the results over his muscular fatigue issues.

What Matches Could Jamie Vardy Miss?

Jamie Vardy missed 50 matches through injury during his 13-year spell with Leicester City, averaging around four absences a season for the Foxes.

This is a fairly strong record considering the relentless approach the Englishman takes into matches, in regards to his pressing and continuous runs in behind.

However, at 38-years-old his ability to recover and play multiple matches per week has started to dwindle, meaning Cremonese will need to monitor his output this season.

Supporters have called for Manuel De Luca to feature more for Cremonese after his heroic performances in their promotion triumph last season and the Italian may be called upon in Vardy’s absence.

At this current moment in time, Vardy has not been officially ruled out of Cremonese’s upcoming clash against Parma and the issue may just be muscular fatigue.

Vardy did not have a pre-season and will need to get up to speed before becoming a regular starter under Nicola Davide, meaning these tests may just be for complete certainty over the Brit’s fitness.

Cremonese have some big games coming up, as October and November will bring some huge tests in Serie A with matches against Inter Milan, Atalanta, Juventus and Roma.
