Former Inter star, Milan Skriniar, has refused to rule out committing one of the biggest betrayals in Italian soccer, as the Slovakian will ‘never say never’ over a move to AC Milan.
Will Milan Skriniar Join AC Milan?
The 30-year-old defender joined Inter back in July 2017, signing from Sampdoria for around €34 million and went on to make 246 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
Skriniar picked up a Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies and two Supercoppa Italianas, while also winning the clubs’ player of the year award in 2022.
His time in Milan came to an end in July 2023 after the Slovakian’s deal reached its expiration date and Skriniar joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.
The 30-year-old failed to impress under Luis Enrique and was loaned out to Fenerbahce during the 2025 January transfer window, before completing a permanent move in the recent summer window.
Inter’s summer signing, Manuel Akanji, claimed that Inter are the biggest team in Italy which is also amplified by the gap between the Nerazzurri and Fenerbahce – showing a slight-drop off for Skriniar in recent years.
However, Skriniar has already hinted over a move back to Europe’s elite leagues, and caused quite the stir after admitting that he would ‘never say never’ over a move to Inter’s fierce rivals, AC Milan.
Skriniar said: “I’ve never spoken to Milan. I’ve never had any contact with the club. Even my agent knew nothing about this.”
“Nothing is impossible. Never say never. Let’s see what happens. I have a four-year contract at Fenerbahce and I’m happy there. The people love me and the fans are wonderful. I also have a good relationship with the club. I’ve found consistency again and I’m happy.”
“I’ve also improved in terms of performance and I want to continue. I’m thirty years old, time flies very quickly. Plus, in today’s transfer market everyone wants younger players. Let’s see what happens, but I’m very happy in Istanbul and I still want to do many things there.”
How Many Players Have Played For Inter and AC Milan?
Playing for a rival club is the ultimate kick in the teeth for supporters, however, this has often been the case for Inter and AC Milan fans – with some of the biggest names in soccer donning both jerseys.
Throughout history over 100 players have made appearances for both sides and since 1995, 27 different stars have betrayed either the blue and black or the red and black halves of Milan.
Inter and AC Milan are looking to buy the land for the San Siro, but the iconic stadium is not the only thing the two clubs’ share with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo and Roberto Baggio all playing for both sides.
The current Inter roster has multiple players that were once on the books at the Rossoneri, with Hakan Calhanoglu, Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian, all switching from red to blue.
In contrast, none of AC Milan’s current squad have made the traitorous inter-city switch, which may be down to Inter’s superiority in recent seasons.
If Skriniar were to make the move back to Italy by joining AC Milan, then he would join a long list of players to play for both sides and could expect a frosty reception at the San Siro.
