The Napoli Champions League squad has been confirmed ahead of the 2025-26 tournament with deadline day signing Rasmus Hojlund included.
Hojlund joined on an initial loan deal from Manchester United. The Azzurri will pay the Red Devils €6million for this season and will pay a further €44m to make the deal permanent.
That will only be applicable if the Serie A winners qualify for the UCL in 2026-27. Hojlund joined United from Atalanta in 2023 after netting 10 goals in 34 appearances for Le Dea.
Napoli Champions League Squad
Napoli will be participating in Europe’s elite club competition for the third time in the last four seasons. The Azzurri managed to get to the quarter-final in 2022-23 where they were eventually knocked out by Milan.
Now, Antonio Conte’s side will be aiming to mix it with Europe’s elite once again and compete with the very best in the latter stages of the competition.
When it comes to Serie A transfers this summer, the Italian champions were one of the highest spenders as Conte crafted a squad to challenge on all fronts this season.
Newbies such as Kevin De Bruyne, Noa Lang, Sam Beukema, Lorenzo Lucca, Eljif Elmas and Miguel Gutierrez have all been included in the 24-man squad.
Naturally, Ballon d’Or nominee Scott McTominay is included as well alongside last season’s title-winning heroes. However, Luca Marianucci and Pasquale Mazzocchi both missed the cut for technical reasons.
Napoli squad: Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, Sam Beukema, Juan Jesus, Mathias Olivera, Amir Rrahmani, Miguel Gutierrez, Leonardo Spinazzola, Kevin De Bruyne, Billy Gilmour, Stanislav Lobotka, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Scott McTominay, Eljif Elmas, David Neres, Noa Lang, Rasmus Hojlund, Lorenzo Lucca, Alex Meret, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Alessandro Buongiorno, Antonio Vergara, Giuseppe Ambrosino, Matteo Politano.
Why Is Romelu Lukaku Not In Napoli’s Champions League Squad?
The Napoli Champions League squad for the new-look league phase includes one notable absentee. Romelu Lukaku – last season’s top scorer – has been cut from Antonio Conte’s roster.
Lukaku picked up a thigh injury during pre-season in the game against Olympiacos. The Belgian international is expected to be out until November/December.
Therefore, Conte didn’t want to risk including the 32-year-old in case he didn’t recover in time. The Azzurri’s eight fixtures will run from the middle of September and conclude in January 2026.
That would mean Lukaku would have only been available for the last three fixtures. He can be included for the knockout stages should Napoli get there.
Napoli’s Champions League Fixtures
Napoli was in pot 3 for last week’s Champions League draw despite winning Serie A last season. They will play four home games against Sporting, Frankfurt, Qarabag and Chelsea.
The four away matches will be contested against Manchester City, PSV, Benfica and Copenhagen. If the Azzurri finish in the top eight, they will secure automatic qualification to the round of 16.
