Gian Piero Gasperini is set to bring some huge changes to Roma for the 2025/26 season, but how will the Giallorossi lineup for the upcoming Serie A campaign?

How Will Roma Lineup For 2025/26 Serie A Season?

The upcoming Serie A season will be one of the most interesting campaigns in recent history for Roma, as they enter the year under the wisdom of Gian Piero Gasperini.

Following a disappointing run under Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric, the Giallorossi appointed Claudio Ranieri to steady the ship towards the end of the 2025/26 season.

Roma managed to qualify for European soccer once again with a fifth-place finish and there were rumors over Ranieri taking a permanent role in the Italian capital.

However, this was eventually handed to Gasperini following his exit from Atalanta and the 2024 Europa League winner will now look to win Roma’s first Scudetto since 2001.

The summer transfer window has left Roma with mixed emotions, with the Italian side signing Wesley Franca, Evan Ferguson and Neil El Ayanoui – but Gasperini has pleaded with the Giallorossi board to bring in some more players.

One big positive for the Rome-based side is the fact that Paulo Dybala and Matias Soule will be staying for the 2025/26 campaign, with the two likely to be regular starters under Gasperini.

However, the Giallorossi are currently in a negotiations battle with Inter Milan, as Roma are looking to keep a hold of Manu Kone after the Nerazzurri showed a reported interest in the Frenchman.

Gasperini is a huge fan of the powerhouse midfielder and Kone has already formed a strong partnership with summer signing, El Ayanoui in the centre of midfield.

The former Atalanta manager has utilized a back-three during Roma’s pre-season fixtures so far, with Wesley Franca occupying the right wing-back slot and Angelino doing so on the opposite flank.

Evan Ndicka, Gianluca Mancini and Mario Hermoso appear to be the favored three at the back and Mile Svilar will likely keep his place as the leading shot-stopper in Rome after a strong 2024/25 campaign.

Roma Predicted Lineup 2025/26

Has Gian Piero Gasperini Ever Won A Scudetto?

The primary aim for Roma this season is to return to the Champions League, after missing out on Europe’s elite competition for six consecutive seasons.

In fact, Roma’s last appearance in the Champions League came during the 2o18/19 season, as the Giallorossi were eliminated by Porto in the Round of 16.

Earning a place in Europe’s elite tournament will be the main objective for Gasperini this season, however, some supporters will also be hoping for a run towards the Serie A title.

Roma have not won Italy’s biggest prize since 2001, with Juventus, Inter and Napoli dominating the Serie A title picture for multiple decades now.

Winning the Serie A title would not only be a monumental feat for Roma, with the likes of Rafa Benitez predicting a two-horse race between Napoli and Inter – but a league title would also be a piece of history for Gasperini.

Despite managing 599 Serie A matches and making 59 Serie A appearances as a player, Gian Piero Gasperini has never got his hands on the Scudetto whether that be as a manager or a player.

The closest Gasperini has came to winning the Serie A title was in 2019/20 (based on points), as Atalanta finished third in Serie A and were just five points off Juventus.

Gasperini’s only trophy as a manager came in 2024, as Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 and Ademola Lookman became the first player to score a hat-trick in the final.

At this current moment in time, Roma are huge outsiders to win the Serie A title in 2025/26 and would need to make up eight-points on Napoli from last season.
