So much for things being relatively quiet this summer, huh?
Last week’s episode of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast was centered around things being rather quiet following Juventus’ Club World Cup exit and the resumption of the summer transfer window’s activity. Well, a week later, all we could is laugh because that was no longer the case when it came to things happening around Juventus.
Over the past seven days, a whole lot of stuff happened.
You could say that’s only natural for the final days of July any summer — especially after what we saw the now-unemployed Cristiano Giuntoli attempt to pull off 12 months ago. But one of Giuntoli’s biggest signings of last summer, midfielder Douglas Luiz, is now trying to force Juventus’ hand and get a move away from Turin this summer. Luiz didn’t show up for the start of preseason training last week, an absence that was not excused or expected by Juve. (He has since showed up to Continassa on Monday, the day this podcast episode has been released.)
That only is a piece of what went from a somewhat quiet time at Juventus to one that is anything but that. With the 2025-26 season set to begin in less than a month now, that’s not exactly how you want to be preparing for the start of a new campaign.
(Also, we would like to apologize in advance if Chuks is hard to hear at time. We had some internet issues right as we started recording and he had to find a makeshift solution on the fly. We did our best to bring you another episode, folks!)
