Juventus got back in the win column this past weekend after a midweek fixture in which they looked as bad as they have under their caretaker manager. But the fact that Juve are back in the top four is definitely not the biggest talking point coming out of the weekend.

It’s the fact that Juve’s young No. 10, Kenan Yildiz, was handed a straight red for a totally unnecessary elbow to Monza midfielder Alessandro Bianco’s head right on the cusp of first-half stoppage time. It changed both how Juventus saw out the rest of Sunday’s win over last-place Monza as well as likely means Yildiz will miss one or both of his team’s next two games that will go a long way in determining if they finish in the top four or not.

So, as much as Juve will have the slim advantage over Bologna in terms of table position this coming weekend after Monday’s results, the Bianconeri will be without one of the best players as they head to the Renato Dall’Ara for arguably their biggest remaining game of the season.

And it was all just totally preventable — which makes it all the more disappointing and frustrating in regards to who did it and the context of how it’s occurred.
