Sunday not only saw Juventus get a step up in competition from Igor Tudor’s debut as manager, but also the simple fact that it was a six-pointer at the Stadio Olimpico in the race for the top four in Serie A. That was all thanks to Roma’s red-hot form basically ever since Claudio Ranieri came out of retirement and helped save his beloved club from any sort of potential relegation fight.
For 45 minutes, Juventus looked to be passing their biggest test under Tudor with flying colors.
But then the second half happened — and it wasn’t great.
It was a tale of two halves for Tudor and Juventus at the Olimpico, with Manuel Locatelli’s stunning volley highlighting an opening 45 minutes in which the Bianconeri simply took it to Roma. But they couldn’t make it last, and the rest was Roma scoring less than four minutes into the second half and the points being shared in the Italian capital. It sent Juventus to their 14th draw of the season, their first result of that kind under their new caretaker manager.
In essence, the search for a complete game continues — and so does the hope that Juventus can actually take advantage of those around them in the standings and the crowded race for the top four in Serie A dropping points.
